Our tour opens along Avenida Libertador Bernardo O'Higgins — the avenue everyone knows simply as La Alameda — passing the presidential palace of La Moneda, the pedestrianised streets and the Plaza de Armas, framed by the Cathedral, the Central Post Office and Santiago's Town Hall. From there we climb Cerro Santa Lucía, the strategic hill where the city was founded, then continue towards Parque Forestal, the Museum of Fine Arts and the Lastarria quarter. Crossing the Mapocho River brings us into Bellavista, a district with a lively cultural and artistic scene. We finish in the modern heart of the city, taking in Providencia, the Las Condes and Vitacura districts, and Bicentennial Park, one of Santiago's newer landmarks. Overnight in Santiago de Chile.

Half-day city tour

Set out to explore Buenos Aires with our dependable drivers and enthusiastic guides. Across three absorbing hours, your English-speaking guide brings the city alive with commentary you won't find in any guidebook. The route has been carefully designed to alternate between comfortable driving and time on foot, so that in a single half-day you take in the city's defining sights — Plaza de Mayo, the vast 9 de Julio avenue, the Casa Rosada, the colourful district of La Boca, and more besides. You'll come away with a real feel for what makes each landmark matter, before being returned comfortably to your hotel. Overnight in Buenos Aires.

Full-day excursion to the Argentinian Iguazú Falls

The morning takes us into Iguazu National Park, created in 1934 to safeguard the spectacular waterfalls and the dense subtropical forest around them, home to its own distinctive wildlife and plant life. After arriving at the Visitor Center, we make our way to the Central Station and board the Ecological Train bound for Garganta Station. From there we set off along the network of walkways, threading past small islands and thick greenery, until the Garganta del Diablo balcony opens up in front of us — the falls' greatest cascade, dropping 72 metres with an average flow of 1,700 cubic metres per second.

Returning to Garganta Station, we continue to Cataratas Station and take on the Upper and Lower Circuits, working our way down past the Two Sisters, Mbiguá, Chico, Ramírez and Bosetti falls to the commanding San Martín. The walk goes on to the Peñón de Bella Vista, taking in the Alvar Núñez and Lanusse cascades. Overnight in Puerto Iguazú.

Full-day excursion to Corcovado and Sugarloaf Mountain

This tour leaves the hotel after breakfast to take in the city's best-known landmarks and to experience Rio's natural setting from above. Following a panoramic drive around the Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon, you'll arrive at the foot of Corcovado Hill and board a comfortable train that climbs the mountain to the statue of Christ the Redeemer, standing 700 metres above sea level. At the top, panoramic lifts or escalators carry you to the base of the statue for a sweeping view over Rio de Janeiro. You then descend the mountain and head for Sugarloaf, riding both stages of the cable car to the summit and its full 360-degree outlook over the city. The route continues to the Maracanã Stadium for a circuit by road and a short stop to take it in, before finishing at a churrascaria for a hearty Brazilian-style lunch. Overnight in Río de Janeiro.
