The Soul of Brazil
9 Days / 8 Nights
Three destinations, three distinct souls, one seamless journey. Contrasts of Brazil begin at the spectacular Iguassu Falls, experienced from both the Brazilian and Argentinian sides and from the water itself on the Macuco Safari. It continues to Rio de Janeiro, the Marvelous City, with its cable cars to Sugarloaf, the train to Christ the Redeemer, and the living spirit of Carnival at Cidade do Samba. And it closes in Salvador, Brazil's first capital and the birthplace of its Afro-Brazilian culture, where the UNESCO-listed Pelourinho, São Francisco Church, and Mercado Modelo await. Private transfers, handpicked hotels, local guides, and daily breakfast are included throughout.
Itinerary Journey
9 Days / 8 Nights
Day 1: Foz do Iguaçú
Welcome to Foz! Your guide will meet you at the airport for a private transfer to the hotel. After check-in, head to the Brazilian side of the falls: a canyon trail with panoramic views of more than 240 waterfalls and a glass elevator to the viewing platform. Then the Macuco Safari — an open jeep-wagon ride through three kilometres of jungle with multilingual guides, an optional 600-metre walk to the 20-metre Macuco Falls, and an inflatable boat upriver into the spray of the Devil's Throat. Bring a change of clothes! Ends at the artisans' fair.
Duration: approx. 5 hours.
Overnight in Foz do Iguaçú.
Day 2: Foz do Iguaçú
Today, the Argentinian side. Cross the Tancredo Neves Bridge above the Iguassu Canyon into the national park, where a small train carries you to the upper and lower circuits. Follow the walkways through the forest alive with orchids and birdlife, finishing at the suspended platform right at the brink of the Devil's Throat — the greatest waterfall of them all.
Duration: approx. 7 hours.
Overnight in Foz do Iguaçú.
Meals: Breakfast
Day 3: Foz do Iguaçú – Rio de Janeiro
After breakfast, a private transfer to the airport for your flight to Rio (not included). Welcome to the Marvelous City — and straight to Sugarloaf. The first cable car climbs Urca Hill, 215 metres up, with views across Guanabara Bay and its islands; the second lifts you to Sugarloaf's summit at 395 metres, for a 360-degree view over Botafogo, Copacabana, Corcovado, and downtown.
Overnight in Rio de Janeiro.
Meals: Breakfast
Day 4: Rio de Janeiro
A scenic drive along Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon brings you to Corcovado, where a small train climbs the forested mountainside to Christ the Redeemer — one of the seven modern wonders, 2,300 ft above the sea — and a panoramic view that explains the city's nickname. A lunch stop follows (meal not included), then Cidade do Samba, the warehouses where Carnival's floats and costumes are built year-round; learn the history and try a costume on.
Duration: approx. 8 hours.
Overnight in Rio de Janeiro.
Meals: Breakfast
Day 5: Rio de Janeiro

Day 7: Salvador de Bahía
Discover where Brazil began. Starting along the bay, wind up through the city's tree-lined streets to Pelourinho, a UNESCO World Heritage site of beautifully preserved colonial architecture. Leaving the vehicle at Municipal Square near the Lacerda Elevator, continue on foot to the extravagant gold-leaf baroque of São Francisco Church and the Largo do Pelourinho at the neighbourhood's heart.
Duration: approx. 4 hours.
Overnight in Salvador.
Meals: Breakfast
Day 8: Salvador
A panoramic tour of the lower city. Reach the quiet Itapagipe Peninsula, a peaceful fishing district watched over by the famous Bonfim Church, one of Brazil's great pilgrimage sites. Continue to Monserrat for its city views, ending at the Mercado Modelo, a lively market for local crafts and souvenirs. Lunch at a local restaurant.
