Schist bedding in Oman
This schist was originally 300 million year old argillaceous limestone - limestone with a high content of clay or silica. The layers of the limestone were later placed under great of pressure and heat. This eventually caused the rock to recrystalise. Plate-shaped mineralisation form parallel planes in the schist.
