The Soul of Philippines
10 Days / 9 Nights

10  through three of the Visayas' most distinct islands, built for travellers drawn to history, nature, and marine life in equal measure. The journey opens in Cebu, the Philippines' oldest city, where a day of sightseeing weaves through the ornate Taoist Temple, the historic Basilica del Santo Niño, Magellan's Cross, Fort San Pedro, and the beautifully preserved Casa Gorordo — a compact but rich introduction to over 450 years of Filipino history. A ferry carries you next to Bohol, where wild tarsiers, centuries-old churches, and the surreal, mound-shaped Chocolate Hills set the stage for a floating lunch cruise down the Loboc River. From here, the pace shifts toward folklore and natural beauty with a ferry crossing to Siquijor, an island long associated with healing traditions, now increasingly known for its waterfalls, mystical caves, and heritage sites. The adventure builds toward Apo Island, a community-managed marine sanctuary and one of the Philippines' premier snorkelling destinations, where sea turtles glide through coral gardens just steps from the shore. This reef, protected through community-based conservation, offers a memorable final stop before heading back to the mainland. Designed as a fully private tour, every transfer, ferry, and activity is arranged around your own schedule rather than a fixed group departure, giving you the flexibility to linger where you like. It's an itinerary for travelers who want history, wildlife, and natural landscapes woven into one trip — Cebu's heritage, Bohol's countryside, Siquijor's mysticism, and Apo Island's reefs, all in a single unforgettable Visayas escape. Cebu City's reputation as one of the country's top tourist destinations is due to its all year round warm climate and accessibility. Named as the country's second international gateway, Cebu is rich in history, and is the oldest city (1565) in the Philippines. The city tour starts with a visit to the majestic Taoist Temple.

Situated 6 km from the city centre is this impressive and highly ornate temple of the Taoist religious community. Its size and architecture are evidence that a considerable part of Cebu's population is ethnically Chinese. On the way to the Basilica, pass by Cebu's Provincial Capital and Carbon Market. Stop by the Basilica de San Agustin, which houses the statue of the Infant Jesus.

A short walk away is Magellan's Cross, the place where Christianity was first planted in Cebu. Not far away is Fort San Pedro, the first military stronghold in the country.

Proceed to Casa Gorordo, the last stop of the tour. The Parian district in today's downtown area was the residential home of Cebu's wealthy at the turn of the century. Of the remaining four houses, the Gorordo residence was restored and furnished in the style of the period. Apart from its furniture, there are porcelain, liturgical pieces, clothes and old photographs of Cebu. Lunch at a local restaurant before returning to hotel.

Leave your resort early in the morning for a day trip that will introduce you to the wonders of Bohol. First stop is the Philippine Tarsier Foundation in the town of Corella, which serves as a refuge for the smallest primate in the world, the tarsier.

Observe these rare, nocturnal creatures in their natural habitat and be amazed by their agility as they move about, leaping from one tree to the other, and swivel their heads nearly 360 degrees.

Then proceed to Baclayon, make a short stop at the historical Blood Compact site, where Spain's Miguel Lopez de Legazpi and Datu Sikatuna, a native chieftain, sealed their friendship with a symbolic drink.

In Baclayon, visit a centuries-old stone church that houses a museum containing a collection of religious art, ecclesiastical vestments, as well as librettos of church music inscribed in Latin on animal skins.

Proceed with the tour, passing by Bilar man-made forest, a thick undergrowth of towering mahogany trees grown on the fringes of the highway leading to the Chocolate Hills, the country's geological wonder.

From a distance, these hills look like huge candy drops that change in color with the season, and are aptly named 'chocolate' when the hill grasses turn deep brown in summer.

Hike up to the viewpoint for a bird's eye view of the surrounding area before moving on to Loboc River where a cruise downstream on a floating restaurant is made more enjoyable with a delectable lunch served on board. Return to the hotel by late afternoon.

Apo Island is a community-organized marine sanctuary located 7 kilometers off the town of Zamboanguita, and about 30 kilometers south of Dumaguete City. Approximately 7 hectares in size, the island is the underwater abode of several species of corals and reef fishes, including sea turtles.

To enjoy and experience the marine life in this protected area, depart from Malatapay on board an out-rigger boat for the 40-minute ride to the island. Relish snorkeling in its wide reef flats and coral mounds teeming with an extensive variety of fish, and if you're lucky, a sea turtle or two might just show up to make your day a wholly pleasant one.

A picnic lunch will be served at the island, then more time will be spent snorkeling before returning to the mainland.

“Manila & Filipino Culture”

"Manila is a city of contrasts: history, colonial churches, bustling markets, and a vibrant nightlife. The traffic and noise are a shock at first, but you end up falling in love with its energy. What I loved most was the warmth of the people — everyone was so welcoming and quick to help. A great starting point for exploring the rest of the country."

“Boracay Island”

"Boracay is simply spectacular. White Beach has some of the softest, whitest sand I've ever set foot on. Total relaxation by day, and a great vibe at night with live music and beachfront restaurants. We ate fresh seafood at amazing prices. Perfect for couples or a group of friends. Highly recommended for anyone wanting something a little different!"

“Banaue Rice Terraces”

"A completely different and truly authentic experience. The Banaue Rice Terraces are breathtaking — a landscape that feels like another world. The journey there is long and the roads can be rough, which is why I'm knocking off a star, but it's 100% worth it. The local culture and food were the highlights. Perfect if you want to see the traditional side of the country."

“Grand Palawan Expedition — 10 Days”

I have traveled to over thirty countries, and I was not prepared for what Palawan did to me. The lagoons at El Nido are genuinely, physically impossible-looking — limestone walls rising straight out of water so clear you can see the fish swimming twenty feet below the kayak. Memphis Tours handled every boat, every transfer, every island hop without a single hiccup. Our guide, Renz, knew the hidden coves that...

“El Nido Beaches, Palawan”

"The Philippines completely blew me away. El Nido is pure paradise — crystal-clear waters, hidden lagoons, and an incredible sense of peace. We did the island-hopping tour, jumping from one bay to the next, and were absolutely speechless. The locals are so warm and friendly, they made us feel right at home. If you're after postcard-perfect beaches, this is the place. I'd go back in a heartbeat!&...

“Diving in Cebu & Swimming with Whale Sharks”

"I came looking for adventure and I found it. Swimming alongside the whale sharks in Oslob was an experience I'll never forget. We also went diving in Moalboal and witnessed the famous 'sardine run' — millions of sardines moving in perfect sync. Everything was really well organized and surprisingly affordable. The Philippines is an absolute dream for ocean lovers."
