This morning, set off on a 1.5-hour drive northwest from Ho Chi Minh City to the Cu Chi Tunnels, passing through lively urban districts and the lush green scenery of southern Vietnam. Initially constructed as a base for guerrilla operations against the French, the tunnels were later expanded during the Vietnam War into a remarkable underground system, sheltering Viet Cong fighters from American air and ground assaults. Discover the extensive tunnels with your guide, learning about their history, experiencing what life underground was like, and understanding the resilience and determination of the Vietnamese people.

Notes:

  • Tour duration: Half day (08:00–14:00)
  • Some sections of the tunnels have been widened for visitors, but they can still be dark, hot, and claustrophobic. Guests uncomfortable with enclosed spaces may prefer to explore the above-ground rooms and excavated areas, which are easily accessible.

In the evening, explore the flavorful world of Vietnamese fresh rolls, a core element of the country’s cuisine celebrated for its fragrant tastes, varied textures, and flexible fillings. Learn about the range of dipping sauces that elevate their flavor and try experimenting with different taste combinations. On the lively streets of Saigon, take part in a hands-on experience discovering the most popular roll types, their ingredients, and how they are prepared. Savor the explosion of taste in freshly made rice paper rolls packed with herbs, and reveal the secret methods that make them so addictive.

Notes:

  • Duration: 2.5–3 hours (18:00–21:00)
  • During the evening vespa tour, you will sit behind experienced drivers who are experts at navigating their vehicles and the busy Saigon traffic.

Today, leave the city behind and immerse yourself in the tranquil countryside of rice fields and fruit orchards. Travel from Ho Chi Minh City to My Tho, the gateway to the Mekong Delta, while enjoying the scenic drive along the way. Upon arrival at the riverside pier, board a motorboat for a relaxed cruise, admiring classic Delta scenery such as traditional stilt houses and active fishing farms.

Switch from boat to bicycle for an easy, leisurely ride along flat village roads, passing fruit orchards and traditional homes while observing rural life that has remained mostly unchanged for generations. Along the way, friendly children greet you with a warm “Xin Chao.” Visit a family-run workshop to see coconut candies being handmade, then enjoy local tea with honey and taste fresh fruits while speaking with local residents to learn about Mekong Delta customs and lifestyles.

Finish the experience with a peaceful sampan ride through narrow canals bordered by lush orchards and quiet villages. Enjoy local delicacies before returning to Ho Chi Minh City in the mid-afternoon.

Stay overnight in Ho Chi Minh City.

Begin your Day 9 on your Thailand and Vietnam tour with a visit to the Rom Hub Railway Market (Folding Umbrella Market) by boarding a train at Mae Klong Station. This extraordinary market is located directly on active railway tracks, where locals sell fresh produce, fruits, and various farm products. As the train approaches, vendors swiftly fold their umbrellas and clear their stalls. Enjoy a short train ride through the market, observing everyday life and engaging with friendly local vendors.

Next, discover the renowned Damnoen Saduak Floating Market. A thrilling longtail speedboat journey takes you past riverside villages and fruit plantations before arriving at the vibrant market. Vendors offer tropical fruits, exotic vegetables, and local snacks from wooden boats, while shore stalls display handicrafts, silk, wood carvings, and souvenirs. It’s an ideal place for photography and experiencing Thailand’s rural lifestyle.

In the afternoon, explore two of Bangkok’s most iconic landmarks: Wat Pho and the Grand Palace. Wat Pho, the Temple of the Reclining Buddha, features a 46-meter-long gold-covered Buddha. The Grand Palace, a remarkable example of ancient Siamese architecture along the Chao Phraya River, also houses the Temple of the Emerald Buddha (Wat Phra Kaew).
