Lira Uganda is Located in the Northern region of Uganda. It is located approximately 110 kilometers by road to the southwest of Gulu, the largest city in the northern region and 124 kilometers northwest of Soroti.
The latest census held in Lira in august of 2014 showed the lira Populus to be at 108,600 around a 28 thousand increase in the population in over 4 years.
Transportation in Lira is not usually a classy travel experience. However, the city has a railway station of the Uganda Railway network. In addition, alongside the railway station, there is also the public civilian airport administered by the Civil Aviation Authority of Uganda.
The best time to visit Lira Uganda is all year round. However, it depends on the activity. The best time for gorilla trekking is during Uganda’s 2 dry seasons, from January to February and from June to September.
Game viewing is best at the end of the dry seasons, February and March and September to early October. It is when wildlife is concentrated around water sources.
For bird watching, it is magnificent all year round, but it is at its peak between November and April. It is when migrant species are present in the wild.
It is recommended to avoid visiting the city during the heavy rains of April and May.
